Yash Raj's new project!
Yash Raj has signed Akshay Kumar for its forthcoming project, which will be directed by DHOOM and DHOOM 2 writer Vijay Krishna Acharya aka Victor. In fact, the project marks Akshay’s return to Yash Raj after DIL TO PAGAL HAI. However, there’s tremendous speculation about the balance cast of this biggie.
A section of the media has reported that the film will star Ajay Devgan with Akshay, but trustworthy sources tells us that Saif Ali Khan will be co-starring in the film.
Now, here’s something no one knows. Kareena Kapoor will play the romantic interest of Akshay and Saif in this film. Like Akshay, this film marks Kareena’s return to the Yash Raj banner after MUJHSE DOSTI KAROGE. “There were no differences between Kareena and Yash Raj as such. But the KAL HO NAA HO incident with the Johars created a rift and Kareena was never considered for any of Yash Raj or Dharma’s films,” a very, very reliable source tells me.
Back to the Akki-Saif project. Kareena has already heard the story, liked her part immensely and has given her consent to the makers. The film will be shot from April to July 2007, after which Kareena will commence shooting for Mani Ratnam’s LAJJO from October 2007 onwards.

Anil a rickshawallah makes it big in TASHAN?
September 8, 2007 4:22:38 PM IST
Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network-glamsham.com
We have been revealing the secrets of the most secretive project from the Yash Raj banner, TASHAN. Here is another disclosure.
While we have talked a lot about the two other leading heroes, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan (their getup, hairstyle etc), here is something about one of the most important TASHAN characters, being played by the 'jhakaas' actor, Anil Kapoor (reportedly a negative).
As per unit sources and media reports, TASHAN will see Anil Kapoor playing a rickshawaala from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, who makes it big in the city. There is also a buzz that apart from his shaven and tattoed chest, Anil may create nostalgia, with his 'Lakhan' look, from Subhash Ghai's blockbuster hit, RAM LAKHAN.

Anil Kapoor drives autorickshaw in 'Tashan'?
12th Sept 2007 15.26 IST By ApunKaChoice
Rumour has it that Anil Kapoor plays an autorickshaw driver in Yashraj Films’ presentation Tashan .
The movie, being directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, has all its stars – Saif Ali Khan , Akshay Kumar , Anil Kapoor
and Kareena Kapoor – in very stylish avatars.
Anil is sporting a handlebar moustache for his role.
If reports are to be believed, it is learnt that Anil plays an autorickshaw driver with a crude sense of humour.
And he speaks the street language.
We also learn that Anil had to undergo training in driving autorickshaw for this role.
Anil Kapoor is contractually bound by Yashraj Films not to speak about his role in ‘Tashan’.
Not even folks at Yashraj are very forthcoming in revealing the movie’s plot.
Guess we’ll have to wait some more time to get the real story.

:stars: I thought the source says it's Kareena in it nor Rani ... I didn't read Ranis name
I think it will be Bebo because Rani has signed so many other projects. Including Kunal Kohli's next. And to be honest, I would love to see Bebo with Akki and Saifu!

It is Kareena cause all those rumours about her breaking up with Shahid for Saif is because she was filming this film with Saif.. Plus I would love to see her with Akki again!! :D

Saif-Kareena shoot for Tashan on Mumbai streets
By Mid-Day, September 24, 2007 - 11:33 IST
http://i.indiafm.com/img/feature/07/sep/tashan1.jpg
Yash Raj Films Tashan is still in the making but yet it seems to be making a buzz for number reasons. One reason is that Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor will share the screen space for the first time together. In fact, Akshay and Anil Kapoor will be seen in a Yash Raj film after a very long time. Second is the makeover that all these actors have done for this film. Third is of course the unusual title ‘Tashan’.
Another interesting reason is that, Saif and Kareena are in news these days apparently for being ‘spotted’ together. Mid-Day also spotted Saif and Kareena together on the streets of Mumbai but this time during the shoot of Tashan. On Saturday, the two were shooting for Tashan in the Fort area of Mumbai. Saif is looking dashing in his new jazzy look. He is also a sleek chopper as seen in the picture. Kareena on the other hand is in slightly gaudy outfit. Wonder what their characters are in the film but they do seem interesting.

Kareena, Deepika opp. Saif?
By Taran Adarsh, September 24, 2007 - 21:05 IST
Will Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone enact the love interest of Saif Ali Khan in Saif's home-production AGENT VINOD, the desi Bond flick? Rumors are rife that Deepika had been zeroed for one of the lead parts, but Kareena Kapoor is now being considered for a pivotal role.
Director Sriram Raghavan, who has JOHNNY GADDAAR opening this Friday, doesn't deny the news outright. "See, the film is expected to star an Indian actress and a foreign girl, but we haven't finalized anyone yet. That's because Saif wants me to lock the script before we begin casting," Sriram states.
However, Sriram says that the casting might change once they okay the script. "We might settle for two Indian actresses, if need be. It's premature to comment on it right now," he states. Will Kareena star opposite Saif, is to be seen.

Saif’s son Ebrahim to act opposite daddy in Tashan Related Links
Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s son Ebrahim will soon make his debut in the same film starring his dad, Yash Raj film Tashan. In fact sources claim that Saif’s son Ebrahim plays his son in the film too. A source claims "Ebrahim recently shot for the film and he's a real rockstar. Everyone on the set loves him. He plays Saif's son in the film." Both his parents, Saif and Amrita were cheering for him on the sets when he was shooting for the film.
The story and exact role to be played by Ebrahim in Tashan is being kept under wraps, but the little star was extremely excited to display his acting skills. Supposedly Ebrahim was quite a natural in front of the camera and already loves all the attention. A true star in the making already. Sources also claim that he will play Saif’s son in the film too and has some really sweet scenes along with his daddy. Amrita was by her son’s side while he was shooting as she wanted to ensure that everything went smoothly. However obviously she didn’t have to worry, as Saif’s son was liked and spoilt by all on the sets. Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor too star in the film, however lately all the attention has shifted to Saif-Kareena due to their budding romance.
Amrita Singh confirmed that her son Ebrahim will be acting in the film, she says "It's true. Ebrahim has done a role in Tashan. I was happy when they asked him to do it, and I'm looking forward to seeing him on the big screen." Daddy dearest, Saif too is extremely proud of his son and in fact kept joking that his son was stealing the limelight from him. Well all we can say is like father like son, a complete charmer.

Yogic Connectionhttp://www.mumbaimirror.com/net/images/ratings/0.gif
Yoga was a big bond between Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor on the sets of Tashan in Jaisalmer
http://cms.mumbaimirror.com/portalfiles/1/30/200710/Image/101007/37-01.jpg Kareena Kapoor
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor continue painting the town red with their newfound love. The two were seen together in Delhi and Mumbai, hitting the nightspots, but now we have some new info on their affair. We hear that it was in the course of their yoga sessions on the location of Yashraj's Tashan in Jaisalmer that the pair bonded.
http://cms.mumbaimirror.com/portalfiles/1/30/200710/Image/101007/37-02.jpg Saif Ali Khan
Says a source from the production unit of Tashan, "Kareena had brought her personal yoga trainer along with her to Rajasthan where she was shooting for Tashan with Saif. Kareena used to leave for her yoga sessions at 6 am and Saif would accompany her religiously."
Kareena's interests seemed to have rubbed off on the Chhote Nawab.
The source adds, "Saif now wants to take up yoga regularly. He was heard saying that it helped him feel much better. Apart from spending lots of time on the sets they would never miss a morning with each other doing yoga in the hotel room of Jaisalmer."

Kareena in a bikini?
By IndiaFM News Bureau, October 29, 2007 - 14:16 IST
After the likes of Tanisha and Bipasha testing the waters of the ‘bikini land’ in the films Neal N Nikki and Dhoom 2 respectively, the radar has now turned towards Kareena Kapoor, who, it seems, is all set to wear a bikini for Yash Raj Film’s Tashan. The bikini shoot is being scheduled for February 2008, for which Kareena is reportedly preparing herself to be in shape! That probably explains why Kareena lost oodles of weight. If you were excited looking at new slim Kareena get into those tight fitting clothes on tv shows for Jab We Met promotion, wait for a next few months, coz the Kapoor girl seems to have much more to offer in Tashan.
It will definitely be a challenge for Lolo, who has always been bindaas in her volley of words, off-screen. What remains to be seen is if this bindaas attitude of hers rub her in reel-life too? And to what extent can she take head on, her colleagues (read ‘competitors’), which includes Mallika Sherawat, Malaika Arora Khan or Bipasha Basu even.
Over to you, Lolo….

Its not rocket science that the whole of Bollywood is eagerly waiting for Tashan, Yash Raj Films' trump card of 2008. And there are more reasons than one for this eager anticipation. The first being the glamorously glam avtaar of all the lead stars. Then there was news about Kareena's bikini sequence in the film.
http://i.indiafm.com/img/feature/08/jan/tashan2.jpg
If these weren't enough, a leading city tabloid got an email from a certain Rozza (here's requesting you to run your imaginations wild like us figuring out who this Rozza could be) about some highly confidential snaps of Kareena and Saif which were shot while they were in Greece…shooting for the film, but of course! We wonder as to who this miscreant is who tagged them along all the way till Greece, only to shoot them shooting?
http://i.indiafm.com/img/feature/08/jan/tashan3.jpg
Photo leaks or no photo leaks, we are firmly placing our bets on Tashan and would also advise you also to do the same, as we are sure that it is nothing short of a 'Saif' bet! What say Kareena?

Love Story 2050 v/s Tashan.....
IndiaGlitz [Monday, February 11, 2008]
The month of April was supposed to set the stage on fire as the dates of the two most awaited movies of the year, Tashan and Love Story 2050 were set to clash. While one film will see the hottest and the most talked about couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor along with Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor, the other is the debut of Harman Baweja opposite his good friend Priyanka Chopra.
Both, Tashan and Love Story 2050 have been cushion-backed by mega bucks Aditya Chopra and Harry Baweja who have made sure that their respective films set the stage on fire. However, Love Story 2050 has been pushed further down by two months. For now the movie is set to release in the month of June which means Tashan will be the solo release on 25th April till any other producer decides to give it competition.

MUSIC REVIEW..
By Joginder Tuteja, March 29, 2008 - 11:21 IST
Tashan is truly the biggest and most awaited project of the season. And the reasons are aplenty.
a) This is the first YRF project in 2008 and comes straight after double-bill disappointments in the form of Aaja Nachle and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag
b) Vishal and Shekhar have a music release more than six months after 2007's biggest success (both film-wise as well as musically) - Om Shanti Om
c) The film stars four top-line actors who have been having a great box office run - Akshay Kumar (5 successful films in a row), Saif Ali Khan (Race), Anil Kapoor (Race, Welcome) and Kareena Kapoor (Jab We Met)
d) Last but definitely not the least - absolutely nothing is known about the film's plot. No wonder, curiosity is simply killing!
Taking these factors into consideration (especially the last one), as a listener, you have absolutely no idea about what to expect from the soundtrack.
Is it going to be a full-on rock album?
Is it going to have 'bhangra' beats holding prominence since the word 'tashan' originates from North India?
Is it going to be full on 'dhinchaak' since Tashan has Vishal-Shekhar composing for a hardcore commercial project?
Well, hold on to all the anticipation and expectation since the five songs which follow belong to the kind which give an altogether different dimension to a movie soundtrack.
'Dil Haara' is a unique composition all the way as one struggles to even describe the flow of the song from beginning till the end. It has Sukhwinder Singh giving a folkish beginning to it, is followed by the sound of rock and has a sufi flavor to it as the 'mukhda' reaches it's peak. The arrangements which follow have an amalgamation of rock and folk sound which makes you sit up and wait to be surprised. Written by Piyush Mishra, expectedly, 'Dil Haara' has lyrics which are truly different from what one normally expects from a Bollywood love song and have a certain ethnic/philosophical touch to them. Picturised on Saif Ali Khan, the song is a huge chartbuster on its way.
Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor get a couplet each for them as they talk about what 'tashan' means to them through 'Pooja Ka Tashan', 'Jimmy Ka Tashan', 'Bachchan Pande Ka Tashan' and 'Bhaiyyaji Ka Tashan' respectively. Wish this was longer though as the combined duration of each of these four tracks is barely 70 seconds!
Piyush Mishra gets behind the mike for a couple of lines (and repeats them towards the middle of the song) before Sunidhi Chauhan takes over the proceedings in 'Chhaliya'. 'Chhaliya' too isn't linear in it's format as it has a melodic beginning to it which changes course pretty quick with a Western sound imbibed into the proceedings. A number with a trademark Vishal-Shekhar stamp to it, 'Chhaliya' is written by Anvita Dutt Guptan and has it's rhythm coming from the line - 'Na Lada Na Lada, Tu Ankh Na Lada' - which forms the major part of the song. A high on beats number which goes perfectly well with the perky on-screen image of Kareena Kapoor!
Sureshot massy entertainer of the album comes in the form of 'Dil Dance Maare' which would definitely have been the riskiest and the most complex song to be created. Reason? When presented with lyrics like 'White White Face Dekhe, Dilwa Beating Fast, Sasura Chance Maare Re; O Very Happy In My Heart, Dil Dance Maare Re', it doesn't make a composer's job easy. And when the lyricist is Vishal Dadlani himself, there is no one else to blame too!
Well, Vishal and Shekhar get into a full on 'dhamaal' mode here and go truly mad in giving a kind of sound which no song so far in a 21st century Bollywood song has carried! Getting inspired from Laxmikant-Pyaarelal school of music when songs belonging to this mood and style were in vogue during late 70s/early 80s, 'Dil Dance Maare' (picturised on Akshay and Kareena) has a rooted appeal to it and turns out to be one of the most innovative works of Vishal-Shekhar.
While Sukhwinder Singh and Sunidhi Chauhan are in great form, it is refreshing to hear Udit Narayan have a major song to his credit after long. The man certainly seems to be having fun and the rest aren't far behind, especially with Vishal going truly ballistic with lyrics like - 'Tohre Dil Ke Theater Maan, Dil Deewana Booking Advance Maare Re'! Are 'bhojpuri' film makers listening?
The composer duo get into Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy territory with 'Falak Tak' which reminds of 'Chup Chup Ke' and 'Bol Na Halke Halke' [Jhoom Barabar Jhoom] when it comes to the romantic genre being explored. A duet by Udit Narayan & Mahalaxmi Iyer, 'Falak Tak' completely turns around the mood of the album. From a 'masti' and 'dhamaal' time that a listener was having all this while, proceedings turn truly romantic with 'Falak Tak' which boasts of some innovative poetic lyrics by Kausar Munir. A soothing number which is made special by its singers, especially Udit Narayan, 'Falak Tak' is the only number in Tashan where you get some breather as a listener.
And this is because soon arrives the title track 'Tashan Mein' which is based on the kind of music which one associates with Quentin Tarantino. Heard of background music from films like Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction or Kill Bill series? 'Tashan Mein' has a guitar creating a similar sound which forms the initial base of the song. While Vishal and Saleem go about adding on to the haunting appeal of the song, it is only after around a minute that the song catches up pace with the sound of 'Tashan Mein, Tashan Mein'. The song turns truly rock here as Piyush Mishra and Vishal weave lyrics which give the 'style' element to the film's characters! A track which should come as a background piece at regular intervals in the film's narrative.
Songs in Tashan excite, get on to you quickly and make you put them on a repeat mode. There is not a single dull moment in this entire album which has its tallest highpoints in 'Dil Dance Maare', 'Dil Haara' and 'Falak Tak'. YRF, Vishal and Shekhar can uncork a champagne bottle since Tashan is all set to record music sales which would be at par with the combined music sales of all of Yash Raj Films projects in 2007 (Ta Ra Rum Pum, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Chak De India, Laaga Chunari Mein Daag and Aaja Nachle).

i am sorry but there is nothing special about kareena's chaaliya song
i mean the dance is not that great and neither is the song
I'm also loooooooooooving the soundtrack! Listen to it all day, especially Dil Dance Maare! O yeah that song makes me very happy in my heart! :P Especially since it has my fave Bollywood singers ever! Sukhwinder, Udit and Sunidhi. Only Sjrey GGoshal and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan are missing. Besides that the song is too much fun. And I agree on Bebo, the Chaliya song isn't all that, concerning bebo;s body.

Blog review of Tashan
April 24th, 2008

(I’ve come across a few blog reviews and the comments are not very encouraging for this one.)
Link
The much awaited Bolloywood flick of 2008, ‘Tashan’ (Style) made me return to writing posts. On visiting the official website of Tashan, I found that there are communities on Orkut and Facebook for this movie! I watched the first day and first show of this movie and decided to warn anybody before they even plan to watch this movie! The tag line ‘The Ishtyle… The Goodluck… The Pharmoola’ has no relevance to the movie!!!
Lakhan Singh aka Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor), a Don from Kanpur hires Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan), a call centre executive to teach him English. Pooja Singh (Kareena Kapoor) works with Bhaiyyaji and her motive is to kill her father’s murderer. And where does Akshay Kumar fit into all this? He plays the role of Bachchan Pande, a follower of Bhaiyyaji from Kanpur, who is hired by Bhaiyyaji to murder Jimmy and Pooja for deceit.
By the first half an hour of the movie, one will really wonder what the hype was all about. Debutant director Vijay Krishna Acharya, the dialogue writer for Dhoom and Dhoom 2, should stick to what he does best. The movie suffers from a very poor script. There are long fight scenes that are absolutely unnecessary. Throughout the movie, the actors utter the word ‘Tashan’ just to bring back the attention of the viewers. Akshay Kumar has done a few good stunts which have been poorly taken. A few of the dialogues delivered by Anil Kapoor are worth laughing and become obsolete by the first half of the movie. Kareena Kapoor looks just appalling. Saif Ali Khan has barely any role to play. The only saving grace is the songs by the music director duo Vishal-Sekhar. Kudos to them for doing such a fantastic job!
In the recent past, I have watched a few other Bollywood movies like Jodhaa Akbar, Race and U me aur Hum, all in the first day first show! This is the most disappointing movie of 2008 by far. The movie can run only because of the intense promotions done by Yash Raj Films. I can give the movie a 2 on a scale of 5. And the two points is only because of the music and a few good dialogues!

All India multiplexes unite for no Tashan play
ROHINI BHANDARI updated on: 24/04/08
MUMBAI: The extensive negotiations between Yash Raj Films and multiplex chains over Tashan revenue sharing terms have gone kaput.
As of Thursday afternoon, approximately 125 multiplex properties of chains like Adlabs, PVR, Inox, Fame India, Fun Cinemas, Movietime and Cinemax have not signed an agreement with Yash Raj to screen Tashan. Thus, implying that as of now, the movie will not be released in theatres on Friday. Even the single screens owned by these multiplex chains will not screen Tashan.
Earlier this week on Monday, Yash Raj and multiplexes settled for respective terms of 50:50, 45:55, 40:60 and 30:70 for the first four weeks for all multiplexes in Bombay city, which are the same terms as last year. However weak points in the negotiations were revenue terms for few cities like Kolkata, Indore, Hyderabad, Aurangabad and Chandigarh, Kanpur, Mangalore, wherein Yash Raj was asking for higher shares even as much as 55 per cent for the first week, which was not acceptable to multiplex chains. Therefore due to this non-agreement for cities outside of Bombay, as of now Tashan will miss its screening across the country.
At the time of filing this story, multiplex heads remained unavailable for comment.
Yash Raj Films director and CEO Sanjeev Kohli says, “YRF has not asked the multiplexes for any incremental terms from those concluded for last year. The terms being discussed are the same as those agreed upon for our films of last year. As done in the past, YRF will compensate the multiplexes in the event that a film does not perform to expectation; we have done this last year as well.”
This disagreement may also reflect on other Yash Raj movies including Kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Siddharth Anand’s Bachna Ae Haseeno and Roadside Romeo. Aditya Chopra directed Rab Ne Banaa Di Jodi was as it is not a part of this negotiation and was supposed to be looked at separately because Chopra was demanding a whopping 60 per cent share from Bombay city for...the first week.
If no alterations and compromises are made in the negotiations with Yash Raj, this incident will go down as the most defining one in Bollywood, in the recent times. For long now, other corporates in Bollywood have held a grudge against multiplexes on not being given YRF terms for their big films. This will also go down as the first instance of unity amongst all the multiplex chains in India.
Prior to this, Welcome, Taare Zameen Par and Jodhaa Akbar missed their first day release on Friday at all multiplexes in India except PVR (which screened the movies), but terms were settled between the concerned parties late on the release nights and the movies were screened thereon.
Tashan is the directorial debut of Vijay Krishna Acharya and stars Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
It remains to be seen if either of the concerned parties succumb to the Friday pressure.

MouthShut Product Rating:
Let me tell you first. Tashan is not a Serious movie. So, First thing you have to do is to keep your brain at home lock it in the fridge
to reduce the damage. Done? Still you have preoccupations like this is a Yash Raj Film and what we can expect is songs, dance, action, family drama etc.? Take a break. Remove all those pre-occupations and get ready to watch a light entertainer filled with action, drama and fun. Welcome to Tashan’s review.
Hot, single and beautiful Pooja (Kareena Kapoor) is all out to get hold of eligible bachelor and playboy Jimmy Cliff (Saif Ali Khan) who speak English fluently
View next photoand work in a call centre. Pooja works for Bhaiyyaji (Anil Kapoor) who is a dangerous underworld Don but illiterate. Bhaiyyaji is awaiting a group of foreign delegates and want to speak to them in English. A love affair is started between Jimmy and Pooja under the nose of Bhaiyyaji. Bhaiyyaji plan to marry Pooja where Jimmy tries to get her out of Bhaiyyaji’s clutches. Pooja is indebted to Bhaiyyaji for about half a crore rupees and cannot quit. The lovers make a plan and succeed in getting out 25 Crores of Rupees belong to the Don. Pooja cheat Jimmy and escape with the money. A skillful, talented and ambitious Guerilla from Kanpur, Bachchan Pande (Akshay Kumar) was bought in to search the lovers. Jimmy surrenders before Bhaiyyaji and tells his innocence. From him they got a clue that she can be in Haridwar. So, the two are assigned to get hold of Pooja and the 25 Crore Rupees. Will they meet Pooja? Why Pooja cheat Jimmy and run away with the money? Who will marry Pooja at the end? What will happen to the Underworld Don? Where those 25 Crore Rupees are hided? There are many interesting questions one can ask from this point. Watch the movie to find out the answers. It is fun.
Vijay Krishna Acharya, who was part of Doom, Doom2 & Guru as a writer try his luck in Direction with Tashan. I will say this new comer director succeed in part, much thanks to the banner and the presence of great stars. The director lack perfection, but from the very beginning the movie was attempted to give a light feeling and take off the seriousness from the audience. He failed in many departments but succeeds in one, i.e. keep occupying audience to the screen.
Anil Kapoor shown again his class and performed the humorous villain role with ease. His Ishtyle with the local dialects made his character jovial and ’katharnak’ at the same time. Akshay Kumar did his role with ease again, and the actor carried his screen presence from his previous films which helped the new director to stand on his feet. Saif Ali Khan missed the bus this time. He looks cool and performs well, but he is one actor who can reach to higher levels of acting when the role demands. His new look didn’t help either. Kareena played the seductress role well, she come out a bit bold and hot this time forget to become dolly and beautiful but the last half an hour compensated for the earlier loses and at the end she is a winner. Sanjay Mishra, Manoj Pahwa and Yashpal Sharma did their meager roles ok. Overall the performance were quite average but the screen presence of the actors salvaged the show.
Music was average. The Choreography was just ok. Falak Tak is the only song which I felt excellent for its music and choreography. Brilliant! Rest all of them are just average. The great locales could not compensate for the poor colour sense of the choreographers. For example, where a blue gives an extremely brilliant look and feel a mix of green immediately wipe out the mood completely. Follows is a mix of orange and dark blue. Choreography should express the mood of the song and project the emotion. But it is not done here. The back ground music was experimental and good. The Bachchan Pande background resembled the one in Dhol, but was extremely effective.
Cinematography was very good at some places where it fall flat in many other. The action scenes, the desert and scenes at Kerala all were good but were quite ordinary in many other places. Editing could have been better. The film is censored with 17 reels, but looks like a major chop undertook before it reached theatre to restrict the length to 2 hr 30 minutes plus.
The movie can be easily labeled as a time pass which tickle your bones and leave a smile in our face. The highlight is the light treatment of the theme, Action thriller. So there is fun and curiosity with each frame. Screen Presence of Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor & Saif Ali Khan contributed much to add value.
The movie can be labeled as a cartoon style film as well at times. Akshay Kumar Magic during the fighting, which overtakes spiderman, superman and all other cartoon characters. This Khilladi fights 100s at a time - Throw down at least 15 with his one push – Climb big walls and fight from middle when 50 people fire with machine guns - kill 100s and come out as unhurt. He can run like a cheetah and escape thousands of gun shots. It is hilarious as it intended that way. When the Killadi was doing all these, Saif tried a boat flight as well where he simply fly from the sea with a boat and fire just turning down the boat. The cartoon style was a matter of good laugh.
The director wish to heat up the boys with Kareena’s 2 piece Swim suite appearance showing the flat gym body muscles. Killadi Kumar tries a Rajani number several times to get giggles from girls, but he press below the belt line.
About the drawbacks of the movie? There are many and many. There is no logic whatsoever. All departments of the film making could have been improved. But do you really wish to know all of?
In short, don’t expect a great movie. It is another light entertainer with a formula action story told in the fun format in cartoon style. Time pass, nothing more, nothing less. The movie probably will add another hit for the Jubilee Kumar who started his winning streak long back, where it is getting positive reports.

Film: Tashan
Starring: Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan
Director: Vijay Krishna Archarya
Producer: Aditya Chopra
Music: Vishal-Shekhar
Release: 25th April 2008
Right from Aaja Nachle had released and the news leaked out from a valuble source that the promo of Tashan is with Aaja Nachle. People were shocked by the promo but when time went by, Tashan kept on getting a different image. Tashan is imporant for several reasons, its Saif-Kareena's first film post the affair. Anil's first film with Yashraj after Lamhe. Akshay's first film with Yashraj after Dil Toh Pagal Hai. And last and post importantly, Akshay's first film in 2008 after ruling 2007. So does YRF give soul to Tashan or leave it blank like Dhoom 2? Does Tashan give justice to all the characters?
Ups
To be honest, I was very suprised with Tashan. I was expecting another Dhoom 2, but I was way wrong. Tashan fills in the blanks were Dhoom 2 went wrong. The first half of Tashan is full non-stop entertainment and the second is full of top-notch action. All the performers of Tashan, have justice been doen to the character. The story is not great, but indeed its one of the best from YRF. The story like every other YRF, carries the value of human emotions and sentiments. This is why the story of Tashan is so good because its not just full of action, but comedy, romance and emotions too. The way all the characters had some sort of link up with each character is indeed extraordinary, the way the writer fits in all of them in that one sequence which is a flashback is wonderful. Tashan is a film from YRF, that offer you entertainment and full of comic scenes, but not only that, a full fledged story and some Banaras wala taste!!!
Downs
Its bad to see when a good film goes wrong, this is the case with Tashan. The first problem comes in with the audience being forced into the screenplay, they are forced like a farmer pulling his cattle. Tashan is borrowed from several different films, Tashan has been inspired from Fida, Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and a little dash of Keemat, if you see the film, you will know exactly what I am talking about. Some of the stunts in the film are very chessy, in the scene when the police come for Anil and Akshay, all four of the main character are present. There is a part where Akshay seems to 'bounce' all over the place with his Krrish style moves and ends up killing about 50 officers at one time, OMG!!!! Director saab what are doing????
Scenes
- Intro Of Anil
- The 'Raven' Scene (HIGHLIGHT)
- Akshay-Saif Set For The Journey
- Anil's 'Deewar' Speech
- Akshay-Saif-Kareena Together
- Hollywood Film
- Flashback
- Climax
Performance
Akshay Kumar is the boy and the shining armour of the film. The guy is truely talented and makes the role of Bachchan Pande so alive, the film is worth watching for his performance. The film should of been another 'Khiladi' film to be honest, I mean the director mainly gives him most of the scope. And the way he talks in his 'Banarsi' accent is wonderful! and the way he adds his 'Saale' at the end of his sentences in brillant. TRUELY A MARVELLOUS PERFORMANCE!!!!
Anil Kapoor, what can I say about this genius? Truely one of the best actors we have in India currently. The main highlight about his performance is the whole butcherd english he talks. Everyone will certainly know that Anil Kapoor is the only actor who could of pulled of this role easily. I respect Anil Kapoor more after this film as an actor, he splits his character into a comedian and a dangerous gangster at the same time.
Kareena Kapoor brings a new image all together. Before I loved to see the wonderful actress who gave some wonderful performances in films like Omkara and Jab We Met. But now, we see a sexy good actress. Before the 'Challiya' song she comes out from the sea with a bikini and looks beautiful then I have never seen before.Kareena carries her character brillantly, she looks the character and she acts it well. She suits the 'bitchy' type of character!!!
Saif Ali Khan has began to waste his talent to do films like these. I liked Saif in films like Omkara, but here is we see a secondary actor, a supporting actor. I would of though the first half would of belonged to Saif and the second to Akshay, but I was wrong. Saif is a talented actor but now hes began to repeat himself with the flirty role after Hum Tum. Saif cannot do action, but comedy hes not bad at.
Music
The music sounds 10 times better then it does on the CD. 'Dil Dance Maare' is a song to look foward to mainly to see that Akshay and Saif look good together and the song is well picturised and well placed. 'Dil Haara' is very good, the beat Sukhwinder use to create now comes back, truely wonderful! 'Falak Tak' is beautiful and a typical YRF track. Well picturised and well placed!!!
Direction
Vijay Krishna Shah is a wonderful writer, but his direction lacks. His direction looks really forced and centered but his writing is far better. I can see him in a few years time being successful as a director as he has the ablity. The film reminds you in scenes of YRF's Lagaa Chunari Mein Daag, where its shown the true side of Banaras and how wonderful the place actually is but in LCMD we saw a terrible side to it. One of the main reason, I wanted to see the male chemistry between Akshay and Saif after films like Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Keemat and Yeh Dillagi were they clicked together, still today they carry that chemistry and its a pleasure to see.
Overall, the film is a must watch for people looking for a full entertainer, Tashan is film you may not want to watch with your family but indeed if you want to be entertained, Tashan is the answer

Tashan (April 25, 2008)
By Taran Adarsh, April 25, 2008
Hindi movies have undergone a sea-change in terms of content. From crude, been there seen that, done to death kind of movies, to films with substance, the audience tastes have changed over the years. Even though we've have grown up on the staple diet of desi food, we've cultivated a taste for Italian, Chinese, Thai and Mexican cuisine.
The experience with TASHAN is like, you enter a posh restaurant, waiting for a sumptuous meal to be served, but what's served on your plate is vada-pau. TASHAN takes you back to the 1970s Bollywood, when illogical situations, blood and gore, for no rhyme of reason, were the main ingredients that made the junta break into taalis. Sorry, the formula doesn't work anymore!
Write your own movie review of Tashan
Seriously, what was debutante director Vijay Krishna Acharya thinking when he wrote this apology of a script? It's perfectly okay to revisit the classics and pay homage to the masala films of yore, but the new interpretation has to be contemporary, you need to change with the times.
The one thing that you realize after watching TASHAN is, no amount of gloss, glam and top notch stars can ever substitute for a riveting script. Great stars, great styling, great songs and great visuals work as long as the script is great.
So what's the verdict then? If you genuinely miss the 'Kamine, main tera khoon pee jaaonga' and 'Bhagwan ke liye mujhe maaf kardo' kind of movies that dominated the 1970s, pick up a DVD of those hits instead. TASHAN is regressive cinema with a capital R.
A call centre executive Jimmy [Saif Ali Khan] is entrusted the responsibility of teaching English to a gangster, Bhaiyyaji [Anil Kapoor]. But Bhaiyyaji's key help Pooja [Kareena Kapoor] uses Jimmy to swindle Bhaiyyaji of Rs. 25 crores. Obviously, Bhaiyajji wants his money back and also Jimmy and Pooja's heads.
He settles for Bachchan Pande [Akshay Kumar] to carry out the job of tracing Pooja, once Jimmy surrenders himself to Bhaiyyaji. What happens next?
Actually, TASHAN starts off very well and the first hour unwinds at a feverish pace. Besides, there're interesting twists and turns in this hour that make you jump with joy. Akshay's entry in the movie is the turning point and the actor only takes the film to a new level.
Alas, the joy is short-lived. The writer-director goes completely off the mark and loses focus. Instead of coming to the point right away, what the writer does is makes you run in circles and circles. It's like boarding a direct flight to London, but the pilot suddenly decides on having stopovers in Ahmedabad, Dubai, Budapest, Munich, Berlin, Amsterdam, before landing at London. You're exasperated!
What ails the film? Various factors. The film goes on and on and on. Unwanted scenes, the outdated love angle, the lenggggggthy fight sequences [people showering Akshay and Saif with bullets, but, well, nothing happens], the confrontation between good and evil in the climax… you actually pinch yourself, were you watching the same movie in the first hour? Or did the reels get changed?
Another minus factor is Vishal-Shekhar's music. Seems like the composers have run out of tunes and what they offer is best suited for the music systems in their cars only. With such impressive names on and off screen, the music directors should've ensured that they come up with tunes that remain etched in your memory… in this case, at least that could've been a redeeming aspect. But the music is awful. The picturisation of some songs is, however, quite eye-filling.
Debutante director Vijay Krishna Acharya seems to have taken the audience for granted. Cinematography is excellent. The locales are a visual treat. Dialogues are good at places.
TASHAN belongs to Akshay Kumar completely. No two opinions on that. Take Akshay out of this film and the movie is a big zero. He's the lifeline of this project and his performance will be loved by elite and masses, both. Kareena Kapoor is fantastic. She looks gorgeous, acts very well [her role is similar to the one she essayed in FIDA] and yes, she carries off the bikini with élan.
Saif Ali Khan is relegated to the backseat. What did Saif see in this role? He's hardly there in the second hour. Anil Kapoor entertains at the start, but after a point, the Hindi-English bhasha gets on your nerves. Also, it's very difficult to decipher what he's speaking most of the time.
On the whole, TASHAN is one of the weakest films to come out of the Yash Raj banner. This film has gloss aplenty, but no soul. At the box-office, the film will join the ranks of JHOOM BARABAR JHOOM, LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG and AAJA NACHLE sooner or later… Business in Overseas will also be weak despite a popular cast.

Tashan Review
Tashan is yet another Yashraj movie with a wafer thin and nonsensical storyline. A few stupid twists and turns make the characters look like fools!
Vijay Krishna Acharya, add another name to the long list of below average directors in the Yashraj camp! The first half drags endlessly, its honestly tough to sit through it. Comparatively, the second half is slightly better, thanks mainly to the scenes involving Akshay Kumar.
At most times the change of sets and locations is totally absurd. How can someone travel from extreme North to extreme south of India in just seven days by lorry, jeep, boat or on elephants? Also our characters have traveled from North to South and again back to North in what seems like minutes.
The same goes with the fight scenes too. Although the action sequences are interesting at times, why make it so unrealistic? When will Bollywood learn to create action sequences that look realistic? The strength and flexibility that our Bachchan Pandey possesses and his power to turn even the hardest object into spring to help him jump high, is something that may not even have crossed the minds of Hollywood directors. And seriously how can a normal freaking human being survive, without a single expression on his face, after being electrocuted? Also, the camera angle during most part of the fight scenes is inexcusable; it gives away the magnetism that is usually seen in Akshay Kumar’s stunts.
The placement of songs is bad and they act as speed breakers. Dialogues are bad at most times, Anil Kapoor’s Hinglish is hilarious in the beginning but later it tends to get monotonous and even difficult to understand at times. Music by Vishal-Sekhar is just average. Dil Haara and Chaliya stand out.
Tashan Performances:
Akshay Kumar is the only saving grace of Tashan. He delivers a power packed performance and manages to entertain like he always does. Anil Kapoor is equally good.
Now, what is an actor of Saif Ali Khan’s caliber doing in a movie like Tashan? He has absolutely nothing to offer. Very disappointing!
Kareena Kapoor too has no scope for histrionics. She looks smoking hot in a bikini, although probably a bit too skinny. The chemistry between Kareena – Akshay is better compared to the Kareena – Saif Jodi.
Overall, Tashan is weak in content and quality. The movie is high on Tashan (style), glamour and action but the content is sorely lacking.
At the box-office, the hype and Akshay Kumar’s star power will ensure a huge opening. But there are quite a few things that could go against the movie in the crucial first weekend. The lack of promotion by the makers, Indian Premiere League being the talk of the nation, negative word-of-mouth and the fact that the movie hasn’t released in any multiplex in India..
All said and done, a good movie would succeed against all obstacles, unfortunately Tashan is a major disappointment from Yashraj. This could just go the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom way!

wow i kinda knew this was gonna happen though :(
I know Indi! It sucks! :( I hope it bombs miserably. I'm kind of mad at Yashraj films although it sounds strange. They have the talent, name and reputation of being the only improving production house which has the money available, which is up to standards with Hollywood. And then they make these crappy movies. It's time the public shows they won't take it anymore. Hopefully then Yasjraj producitons will realise that it's not about the surface but about the inside content of a movie!

Thanks Eviie for your review  I soooo wanna see the movie :D
it's always like that with the movie. The bigger the cast the bigger the hit. Don't forget there was Saif-Kareena-Akki-Anil ... And it was a Yash raj film ... Life can be sooo unfair!!!!
I'm still pissed man. I was soe xcited to see Akki in a YashRaj movie. They completley have lost my appreciation. They only think about the money they are gonna make. I hope for Aditya his movie will work. Cause if he'sc apable of prudcing such ridiculous movies, he better think good before making that SRK movie.
Masand's Verdict: Tashan is terribly trashy

Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor
Director: Vijay Krishna Acharya
The sight of Kareena Kapoor in a two-piece bikini is about the only thing that wakes you up from your sleep while watching Tashan — the mega-disappointing, mind-numbing new film at the cinemas this weekend.
Bad films are bad films and we see some every week, but Tashan is not just a bad film, it's a terrible film. Terrible because it takes its audience for granted, terrible also because the filmmakers expect to get away without a plot or any common sense only because they've got big movie stars onboard.
Written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Tashan is what you'd describe as a road movie, but one that's going in all the wrong directions.
Saif Ali Khan stars as Jimmy Cliff, a call-centre executive who's hired to teach English to Bhaiyyaji - that's Anil Kapoor playing an ambitious UP gangster, desperate to go cool.
Jimmy's got his eye on Pooja, the gangster's pretty young assistant (played by Kareena Kapoor), who uses Jimmy to swindle her boss of 25 crore rupees.
Determined to recover his money and also to punish both Jimmy and Pooja, Bhaiyyaji recruits his most trusted henchman to do the job.
So you have Akshay Kumar as Bachchan Pandey, the gangster's faithful aide from Kanpur, who tracks down the culprits and recovers the stolen money that's hidden across the length and breadth of the country.
Much like those bad eighties potboilers, Tashan too is held together by a threadbare script centred on a vendetta plot. But the treatment's so over-the-top, so indulgent that it fails to establish any connect.
Instead of a coherent screenplay or a traditional three-act structure, you get a handful of set pieces around which most of the scenes are loosely constructed.
That garish item song in the desert, the bullet-dodging action scene at a Rajasthani fort, Kareeena's bikini moment, even that ridiculous climatic action scene complete with shaolin monks, a water scooter zipping through a dirty naala, and believe it or not, even a Dhanno-style horse-driven tonga.
In all fairness, not all these set pieces are badly done - the item song in the desert is quite neat actually - but very little of it makes any sense in the larger picture, because you're just going from one piece to another without any help from the script really.
Little do you expect in a seemingly fast-paced road movie, to find a sickeningly sentimental flashback track about childhood sweethearts.
You see the problem with Tashan is nobody associated with this film knew what film they were making. What's more, I don't think they cared either - the film reeks of arrogance.
Arbitrarily packing in elements of every genre without actually bothering to stop and see if the mix does work, Tashan is like an overcooked stew.
There are films that kill you softly, and then there's Tashan, a film that kills you with excess.
Packaged snazzily with glossy-finish camerawork, exotic locations and fancy costumes, every frame of the film probably cost lakhs to put together, but it still feels like a hollow piece in the end because the story doesn't hold.
Borrowing narrative from Tarantino and style from Stephen Chow doesn't help either because they don't blend with the film's wafer-thin plot. One may have complained a little less if the characters were more engaging, but Anil Kapoor's grating Hinglish dialogue makes you want to slit your wrists, and Saif Ali Khan fumbles through the film foolishly, unable to find his feet.
Kareena Kapoor, meanwhile, queen of over-the-top delivery, does a decent job. But of course, if Tashan is salvaged to some extent, it's thanks to Akshay Kumar's irresistible presence and his spontaneous approach to the character.
You cringe when he's cupping his crotch repeatedly, and you scowl when he delivers those double-meaning dialogues, but not for a moment can you take your eyes off the screen when he's up there.
Despite some good music from Vishal-Shekhar, the songs seem like they're only prolonging your misery. Well that's because Tashan is a test of your patience.
I'm going to go with one out of five and a thumbs down for director Vijay Krishna Acharya's Tashan.
In case you didn't know, Tashan means style. I'm sorry to say, this film has none.

i am kind of sick of yash raj at the moment
If only this sucky movie was as good as the way this song was picturised. IMO one of the best picturised love songs! It's kind of the style of BNHH from JBJ. I'm really excited now for Kambaqt Ishq.

I wrote a few pages back that I only liked the second half of the film !.. The first half to me personally was the biggest waste of time !.. I remember when intermission came saying out loud "How boring is this" I was tempted to leave ! but the second half was better and thats only thanks to Aksahy Kumar !.. I enjoyed Kareena-Akashay jodi I thought they rocked but Saifeena even though they weren't the main couple they still didn't do anything to me !.. As a film it was crap with dodgey action scenes :scared:.. I don't even want to go there .. If you do watch the film just watch it for Akshay !..
