DIAMONDS FOR THE DULHANIYA
Getting Kajol dressed for a show can be a nightmare. For the first episode of his tele talk show Koffee With Karan Johar, Karan’s heroine turned up at the studio in a pair of mismatched heels well knowing that Manish Malhotra was going to be draping her in a sheer black chiffon sari. By the time the problem of “shoes” had been solved Neelam Kothari had turned up with an array of designer jewellery. Kajol detests costume jewellery but like mum Tanuja she has a yen for the real stuff. And she went for Neelam’s priceless gems in a big way. She tried on every one of the pieces Neelam had lugged along and then refused to take them off. Karan had to grab fistfuls of diamonds and pull them off her neck and wrists so Kajol wouldn’t resemble a Benzer mannequin. Only the chandelier ear-rings were left to dangle tantalisingly
