Aamir Khan and Yash Raj Films United!
With a bearded and long-haired Aamir Khan gearing up for the release of ‘The Rising’, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that the actor is already thinking of his next few films – three in fact! We are more than surprised, actually, especially since the actor seldom signs on with more than one project at a time.
While Rakesh Mehra’s ‘Rang De Basanti’ will be Aamir’s next release, he’s reportedly given the go-ahead to Kunal Kohli’s latest (for Yashraj Films) as well as a Mansoor Khan film. Kohli, on a high after the success of his Saif-Rani starrer, says, “I can’t reveal much about my film now, but it will be formally announced soon. All I can tell you is that the film will be a love story, which will be very different from ‘Hum Tum’. It’s a more mature love story, and I plan to give Aamir a different look as well. I haven’t finalised the actress, but we’re in talks right now.”
We asked about Aamir’s alleged reluctance to sign on with the Yashraj banner - he was apparently annoyed with their refusal to give him a joint narration for ‘Darr’ - and Kunal side-stepped the issue with, “No, nothing of the sort. I don’t think Aamir was upset about that. And I don’t think he will ever say something like that. Anyway, that was a long time ago.” And the rumour about him talking to Saif Ali Khan and then Rishi Kapoor’s son, Ranbir, about the same role? “That’s not true. You think Saif would not have agreed to do my film after ‘Hum Tum’? And as for Ranbir, he is too young for the role; he’s just 20 years old. I needed someone much more mature for this kind of film. The profile of my main character also didn’t suit Saif.
So there was no question of me approaching him for it. Aamir, however, suited the character perfectly. We’ll be starting the film next year.” Yashraj Films itself is scaling new heights - with both ‘Hum Tum’ and ‘Dhoom’ raking in the moolah at the BO - and is now all geared for the company’s next release, the magnum opus: ‘Veer Zaara’, starring Shah Rukh, Preity and Rani. Looks like Aamir is finally trashing his self-imposed ‘one film a year’ rule. His fans will certainly not be complaining! Source: Filfare.com BollySpice.com
